Neutralization of a hydrogen peroxide solution?

The settling I use to store my contact lenses in is an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide(3%).When I squelch my contact lenses in the case,I'm supposed to leave them there for approx. 6 hours,plough the solution is neutralized.

2 H2O2 ---> H2O + O2
a sea water solution is pretty stable
but
bacteria will catalyze the decomposition and the oxygen, in actuality released as atoms at first, will kill the bacteria.
