Are Neosporin and Hydrogen perioxide bad for an infected navel piercing?

I have heard they are bad for belly button piercings, is this true? and does anyone know why.

you aren't meant to put either of those on your bellybutton peircing. both aren't supposed to go into deep wounds.

i have mine peirced, i am 18 years old and i have had it since i was 13, so take my recommendation...
